Review: Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs

( Mercy Thompson #3 )

blurb:

'I could smell her fear, and it satisfied something deep inside me that had been writhing under her cool, superior gaze. I curled my upper lip so she could get a good look at my sharp teeth. I might only weigh thirty or so pounds in my coyote shape, but I was a predator...'

Mechanic Mercy Thompson can shift her shape - but not her loyalty. When her former boss and mentor is arrested for murder and left to rot behind bars by his own kind, it's up to Mercy to clear his name, whether he wants her to or not.

Mercy's loyalty is under pressure from other directions, too. Werewolves are not known for their patience, and if Mercy can't decide between the two she cares for, Sam and Adam may make the choice for her...

There might be some spoilers so consider if you really wanna read this.

I think this one really is the best out of 3.
However.. I'm getting tired of the event pattern.. For most of the book there's nothing happening, then nearing the end there's this big great event that explains everything and usually there are some big revelations and of course somebody gets hurt. Usually Mercy. Then there's a lull again, and by the ending of the book there's one more big event.

What I hate, is how cold Mercy looks.
Sure she has feelings and blah blah. But I don't feel it. If she gets hurts, it's like nothing. Physically or emotionally, I just don't believe her.
It's like someone retelling her story to me, without emotions and the like. I'd like to be able to feel what she's feeling, to truly believe that she's 'real'.
It's almost like reading a history book. Cold facts.
'She went there because we needed to find that thing. That thing wasn't there, we went home.'
Maybe I'm not making any sense, but I'm just sharing my thoughts about this, so no hate mail please.
I understand it's hard to build a world with so many supernaturals in it, so much action and still keep the emotions in it. But it's possible, Kate Daniels is the best example.
There are too many things I must assume, which I rather read about. Feel more connected to characters.

So yeah.. not super excited about this, but I need to read the next book. I 'heard' it get's better.

We'll see I guess :)

Peace,
A.

ouch!
This book hurt... a lot

5 Sizzling Stars!!!

"...You need to be my everything."

This is a "love" story of Ellie(Eden) and Javier.

So I should say that after this book, I'm not even sure on who's team I am.

At the beginning we got a glimpse at a very young and, in my opinion, very naive Ellie Watt. Of course she has this big bad plan for revenge. That should have made her into a bad-ass girl.
Well let me say that it haven't worked out all that well.
She got soft.
Ah, I forgot to mention, - she fell in love too.
And not just to anybody...
But to a very charming, very possessive and very, very cruel man Javier...
and oh my.. he's definitely a charmer! A real ladies man. He knows what he's doing, and he is doing it well.

I would really like Javier's book, with his POV. He's a real puzzle to me.
It looks like he's possessed with Ellie (Eden) and yet he's so distant sometimes. I would love to take a glance in his mind.

"So why did you come here?"
He smiled lazily. "I told you. I'm persistent. I don't like being told no."

Reading the ending of this book really really hurt. I was so disappointed ... although.. I actually knew how this would all end.
I was still hoping .. for some kind of HE I guess. I'm a romantic to the core. I believe even those bad, ugly people with rotten hearts deserve to love and be loved. Sad.. I know :)

"Revenge has been my lover for too long," he said, breath hot on my neck. He began sliding down my body, toward the floor, arms around me.
"Power, my savior. I need to learn how to put you first, above those things. I need you to help me. I don't want to love anything more than you, Eden, so please, I'm begging you, show me how. You need to be my everything."

So anyway, I think I'll play safe for now and choose Team Ellie
for now!
I need more info about our 'boyz'. :)

5 STARS!!!

( I just can give less after listening to this!)

This story is not about a love at first sight...

This story is about a young woman..

A story that made my hearth hurt more then few times..

A story for , and not just, abused females all around the world.
Ladies! - We need to unite, and NOT close to ourselves if we're being abused!

Ask for

There will always be someone who could help You!

I started thinking that maybe I should also join self-defense classes! There were few moves in this book that I def would like to learn.

That's right! I want tho share my excitement about martial arts in this book... there will be some action in that area. Oh, and there will be tats involved.. And everybody who knows me, knows my love for guys with tattoos.. It's just soo.. sinful :))
Shallow me.. whatever :))

~*~*~*~

.... And there's the love story..
two people falling for each other no matter that the circumstances are not in their favor.

It's about soul-deep connection and care..

I don't want to reveal too much. You just have to read it by yourself :))

BTW - it's very well written, maybe the story-line is a bit stretched in some places, but that doesn't really change anything.
I loved this book the first time I've read it, and now.. It was even more amazing experience!!!

Did I mentioned that this book..

It's beautiful!

"Love is not the absence of logic, but logic examined and recalculated, heated and curved to fit inside the contours of the heart"

First of all..

5 f'king GREAT Stars!! and ++++!!!

Meet Ellie..

She's a con artist.. and she's good at it! She's really got at it.
And she doesn't care about it. After one job gone bad she's on a run - again, but it's ok for her, cause she keep's a spare life in the trunk.
Spare Clothes..
Spare driver's licenses and Social Security Numbers.
When it's to `hot` to stay - she goes.

But she's in a bit of a mess, needs a new start - again, and decides it's time to go, back to the Palm Valley, place she once already called home. Back to her true self - whoever it is.

And she's hoping her dear Uncle Jim will help her start over. He's her mother's brother, no matter what happened, he used to take care of her, was like her father for a time. So he'll def will help her

``I raised my hand to knock again when the door was opened a crack and I spied a familiar looking eye peering through it.
"Uncle Jim," I said through a broad smile.
He frowned and the door opened fully.
He looked at me up and down and said, "Oh,shit."``

so yeah.. maybe he wont help.

But she stays, at least for a couple of days wishing to find a job.
She decides enough is enough, time to go legit!

She goes to a local coffee shop in hope to get a job there.. no such luck, but while she wait's for her order she founds herself eye-to-eye with the most gorgeous guy she have ever seen! And... looks like he knows her!

Wait a minute?? what?? Nooo!... nobody should know or even remember her..

Meet Camden McQueen!

Oh hell yeah she knows him...

But he's soo different now! They start talking.. and what do you know? He's doing really great for himself. He invites her to his work/home and the wheel's in Ellie's head begging to turn... maybe it's not yet the time to be legit?

Sadly not everything goes the way it needs to.. and uh-oh.. are there butterfly's in her stomach?? Nah.. it couldn't be!

But oh my....

"You're a bad person, Ellie," he said without a trace of irony.
"I'm not bad. The world is bad and I'm just trying to survive in it."

I think it's enough to peek your curiosity! :)))
I had a blast with this book. Karina Halle, you know you rock right?

I was shocked, I was scared, I cried, I laughed, I felt HOT!!!

Oh My God!! What should I do until the book #2?? And the ending!

So everybody, who haven't already - It's a MUST READ!!!

"It wasn't a goodbye kiss, it was the opposite. It was the start of something that would last forever."

`To everyone with the scars that have made them who they are -- this one's for you.` - Karina Halle
