SHORT REVIEW: Behind His Eyes - Consequences by Aleatha Romig

About this book:

The CONSEQUENCES SERIES READING COMPANIONS

Books #4 of the CONSEQUENCES Series - BEHIND HIS EYES – CONSEQUENCES is a reading companion, by New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Aleatha Romig, recommended to be readafter completing all of the CONSEQUENCES SERIES: Consequences, Truth, and Convicted. It is not a standalone book and should not be read as such.

This companion was written to explore the thoughts and motivations of Anthony Rawlings, the man behind the consequences. It was not intended as a total rewrite of Consequences, but meant to enhance the reader’s understanding.

BHE-Consequences contains significant scenes from the novel Consequences, as experienced from Anthony’s point of view. It also contains never before read, behind the scenes information, as well as, a glossary of the characters and a timeline devoted to the events within Consequences.

BEHIND HIS EYES CONSEQUENCES is a dark journey into the mind of the man who believes that he controls everything and controls nothing. Because there is more to learn about a man who:

Once upon a time, signed a napkin that he knew was a contract. As an esteemed businessman, he forgot one very important rule—he forgot to read the fine print. It wasn’t an acquisition to own another person as he’d previously assumed. It was an agreement to acquire a soul.

—Aleatha Romig CONVICTED

It was a long and painful acquisition—especially from Behind His Eyes!

Oh wow!
Though my first thought when I saw words 'The End' was NOOOOOOOOOO!!!
I need more!!! Tony's POV? There can never be enough of that!!!

Hate to Love him and I Love to Hate him! <- that describes my emotions towards him the best at the moment..

Wow, I can't seem to stop repeating that! I didn't know what to expect.. cause seriously, how can you expect something from him? Actually you can expect everything and nothing at the same time! That's Anthony Rawlings, polished on the outside - totally unpredictable inside!

And since the inside of my head feel suspiciously like scrambled eggs at the moment I don't think I can write a worthy review for this wonderful book!

I'd just start babbling ( like right now ) and fangirling, I may even start crying and that's never a good idea.

So let's all pray for the next reading companion to come along fast ( pretty please Aleatha!!!), so I'd be able to compose myself a little and live my life again. Or not. Actually keep them coming, more books, more POV's! I'd even like to read it from Catherine's POV.. I'm just kidding, I'd stab the bitch!

Anyway, me done.
Peace,
A.

P.S. In case I forgot to mention, this Book is AWESOME! If you haven't yet, you should check The Consequences series by Aleatha Romig .  This is the 4th book. LOVE YOU ALEATHA!

P.P.S. yup, like I said.. I started fangirling.. here goes the waterworks!

Review : Killing Sarai by J.A. Redmerski

( In the Company of Killers #1 )

blurb:

Sarai was only fourteen when her mother uprooted her to live in Mexico with a notorious drug lord. Over time she forgot what it was like to live a normal life, but she never let go of her hope to escape the compound where she has been held for the past nine years.

Victor is a cold-blooded assassin who, like Sarai, has known only death and violence since he was a young boy. When Victor arrives at the compound to collect details and payment for a hit, Sarai sees him as her only opportunity for escape. But things don’t go as planned and instead of finding transport back to Tucson, she finds herself free from one dangerous man and caught in the clutches of another.

While on the run, Victor strays from his primal nature as he succumbs to his conscience and resolves to help Sarai. As they grow closer, he finds himself willing to risk everything to keep her alive; even his relationship with his devoted brother and liaison, Niklas, who now like everyone else wants Sarai dead.

As Victor and Sarai slowly build a trust, the differences between them seem to lessen, and an unlikely attraction intensifies. But Victor’s brutal skills and experience may not be enough in the end to save her, as the power she unknowingly holds over him may ultimately be what gets her killed.

Dear Author,

please excuse my writing.
I can’t stop my hands from shaking cos I just finished this book and I need more!!!!

This was WOOOOOOW!

I knew I loved 'The Edge of Never' for a reason! It's this wonderful author, J.A. Redmerski!
I am speechless and don't sure if I can pull this review off, but I'll try!
This book kept me until 5 this morning.. that's saying I lot I hope. Cause I can't explain the feeling.
It's like I didn't want this to end.. ever. Like never ever!

There's a story, there's a plot, there's these damaged but still wonderful characters who you just can't get enough off!

Ohh, and the cliffhanger! Let's not forget about that, too.
It wasn't so bad, don't worry, but it still got me super excited for the next book!

That's all, for now :)

Peace,
A.

Epilogue by C.J. Roberts

(The Dark Duet #3)

Blurb:

I’m writing this because you begged. You know how I love the begging. In fact, you probably know too many things and know them far too well.

Who am I?

Well, that’s what I’m trying to figure out. I was a whore in my youth, a killer since my adolescence, and a monster as a man. I am the man who kidnapped Livvie. I am the man who held her in a dark room for weeks. But, most importantly, I am the man she loves.

She loves me. It’s quite sick, isn’t it?

Of course, there’s more to our story than can be surmised in a few short sentences, but I’m at a loss for justifying my behavior back then. I assume if you’re reading this, I don’t need to make those justifications. You’ve already made your own.

You’re reading this because you want to know about the rest of the story. You want to know what happened that warm summer night in September of 2010, the night I met Livvie at The Paseo. It was the night my life changed all over again.

It didn’t happen exactly as Livvie said. She’s been very kind to me in the retelling of our story. The truth is far more…complicated.

I don't even know what to say.. Caleb, your son of a... I'll miss you..

5 stars is not enough, hell.. Million stars doesn't even cover the part of a cover..

so I'll just say S T A R S .............. !!!

For a reader who would randomly take and read this book all the joy and excitement wouldn't do much.
He or she wouldn't get why people were stalking this book, waiting for accurate release date, pre-ordering and being pissed when Amazon send the wrong copy to them.

But I understand! Everyone who've read the series, those two books before this one, will understand. Cause if you've read it, you were captivated by them. You can love them, you can hate them, but you will always, ALWAYS remember them!

And the ones who love them, those who lived with these characters, cried with them, were scared with or of them. Who felt joy and sorrow.. Those readers.. well.. I'm one of those readers!

This book was everything I had wished for. I wished to see them out in the world. To feel their love, to hear their minds.

And Caleb... he turned to be better man then I thought he could be. He's still himself, but a better version. You'd ask how could that be?
Well imagine the Caleb we knew from first two books, and how little we actually saw inside him. And here .. his mind is fascinating! I think I'm in love :D

Anyway, enough of my rambling.. My words can't express enough or do justice for this book.
You have to just read it, and then read it again and again. Until you see what a wonderful job C.J.Roberts did!

The story of Livvie and Caleb broke my heart, and then peace by peace they'd put it back together. Now I feel full again to wonder around in search of new stories. But I will never, ever forget about them.
You both are in my heart <3

Peace
A.

------------
4 strong Stars!

Ok, so I've just finished reading this .. and first thing I did was to take a deep breath.

My anxiety was through the roof nearing the end of this book, so I peeked to see how will it end, not much, just took a glanced at few words..

And what I saw disappointed me.
I was expecting the ending would be totally different. Cause at one point, reading this book I thought, shit.. another fairy-tale with the happy ending. Where no matter what goes down, in the end everyone will be happy.
But not so much in this book.

So back to my expectations and how it was all ruined when I peeked at the ending.
So I got back to reading it from were I left, and you know what? Now I think It's the perfect ending!
It gave totally different meaning for this book. And now I don't see it as another cheap love-fairy-tale ( just with no faeries, don't get confused on that).

It's actually a sad, conflicted love story. Which I didn't expect.
But it was beautiful (in some twisted kind of way). So I strongly recommend on reading it.

Comfort Food by Kitty Thomas

(Read December 12th, 2012)

Synopsis:

Emily Vargas has been taken captive. As part of his conditioning methods, her captor refuses to speak to her, knowing how much she craves human contact. He's far too beautiful to be a monster. Combined with his lack of violence toward her, this has her walking a fine line at the edge of sanity. Told in the first person from Emily's perspective, Comfort Food explores what happens when all expectations of pleasure and pain are turned upside down, as whips become comfort and chicken soup becomes punishment.

DISCLAIMER:
This is not a story about consensual BDSM. This is a story about "actual" slavery. If reading an erotic story without safewords makes you uncomfortable, this is not the book for you. This is a work of fiction, and the author does not endorse or condone any behavior done to another human being without their consent.

4 Fucked-Up Stars!

First of all I'd like to quote K.Thomas.

from "About the Author"..

" <...> She(Author) believes there is no topic too taboo to write about and that fiction isn't meant to teach morality. If you haven't developed morals by the time you start reading erotica, it's probably too late. "

****** Amen to that! ******

My thought's about the book

First off all it is very well written and well researched. I was captivated by the story from the beginning. Not knowing what will happen if anything.

So the heroine Emily Vargas did good for herself. Wrote few self-help books and was touring with one of them and stuff like that. Basically Oprah would have been proud of her. Then suddenly after one of her speaking engagements she was taken captive.
That's when the real fun begins.

'My mind was going down trails I wished it wouldn't. His soul was ugly, but physically, he was beautiful. I could give in to that. I could let that touch me without felling the need to vomit. And I wouldn't be blamed for it. I was the victim here.'

I actually was thinking there would be more violence.
But despite things that she had to endure in to "please" her captor there was almost none. None that was spilled on paper anyway.
But the biggest violation was with her mind. What happened in this book I'd describe as a total mental rape.
Stripping persons identity so thoroughly and completely that the person would willingly do unimaginable things.

"No ... Please don't leave me. I'll be your whore. I'll be whatever you want, please." ..<..> He turned and smiled at me, the smile of victory.

I actually searched for some pictures to spice up my review a bit, but what I've found made me sick.
Have you ever wonder how many women all over the word is held captive against their will for sex slavery? All the people that don't have rights to consent or not 'bout anything. Not where they sleep, what they eat and much much worst things.
What I'm trying to say is that I'm all up for kinky fuckery or whatever helps you get off, but it has to be consensual.

By the end of the book I've gone through a lot a feelings. Anger, pity, horror, disbelieve, hope. And I was clinging on hope the most. I didn't help. So once again I want to remind you that it is not a romance. No knight in shining armor will arrive and save the day.
But it's a good book, challenging - but good nonetheless.
So please read and enjoy!

'What we is fucked up and twisted, but it server a need.'

'His touch was like heroin in my veins, and I was a grateful addict.'
