Review: Dreamfever (Fever #4) by Karen Marie Moning

Dreamfever (Fever #4)

blurb:
He has stolen her past, but MacKayla will never allow her sister’s murderer to take her future. Yet even the uniquely gifted sidhe-seer is no match for the Lord Master, who has unleashed an insatiable sexual craving that consumes Mac’s every thought—and thrusts her into the seductive realm of two very dangerous men, both of whom she desires but dares not trust.

As the enigmatic Jericho Barrons and the sensual Fae prince V’lane vie for her body and soul, as cryptic entries from her sister’s diary mysteriously appear and the power of the Dark Book weaves its annihilating path through the city, Mac’s greatest enemy delivers a final challenge.…

It’s an invitation Mac cannot refuse, one that sends her racing home to Georgia, where an even darker threat awaits. With her parents missing and the lives of her loved ones under siege, Mac is about to come face-to-face with a soul-shattering truth—about herself and her sister, about Jericho Barrons…and about the world she thought she knew.

“I have a black sense of humor. You try living my life, see what color yours turns.”

Well, we can't live your life, but we can definitely read about it and I'm pretty sure everyone understands what you mean.

This book was emotional roller-coaster..
From low to high, from high to medium and from there everything went to hell.
I knew what was coming, It's not my first time reading this and still.. I wasn't ready for the ending..
I wasn't ready for a lot of things.

I was so proud of Mac, she went trough soo much! And still life doesn't make it easy for her..

“There’s only one question that matters, Ms. Lane, and it’s the one you never get around to asking. People are capable of varying degrees of truth. The majority spend their entire lives fabricating an elaborate skein of lies, immersing themselves in the faith of bad faith, doing whatever it takes to feel safe. The person who truly lives has precious few moments of safety, learns to thrive in any kind of storm. It’s the truth you can stare down stone-cold that makes you what you are. Weak or strong. Live or die. Prove yourself. How much truth can you take, Ms. Lane?”

And the truths, all kinds of truths keeps coming out in this book. I remember reading this the first time.. huh, It was too much for me. Too much information. But the ride is worth it. It is soo worth it!

“Good and evil are merely opposite sides of a coin. Get tossed in the air enough, it's easy to come down on the wrong side.”

So lets see how Mac will land. The ending of this book leave us hanging. With no air for our lungs. With almost no hope and with thousands of unanswered questions.
But they will be answered, I promise. Well.. at least some of it will :))

At the ending I kept remembering Barrons' words... over and over in my head...

“See me when you look at me.”

And so she did...

Peace,
A.

Faefever (Fever #3) by Karen Marie Moning

Blurb:
'He calls me his Queen of the Night. I’d die for him. I’d kill for him, too'.When MacKayla Lane receives a torn page from her dead sister’s journal, she is stunned by Alina’s desperate words. And now MacKayla knows that her sister’s killer is close. But evil is closer. And suddenly the sidhe-seer is on the hunt: For answers. For revenge. And for an ancient book of dark magic so evil, it corrupts anyone who touches it.

Mac’s quest for the Sinsar Dubh takes her into the mean, shape-shifting streets of Dublin, with a suspicious cop on her tail. Forced into a dangerous triangle of alliance with V’lane, an insatiable Fae prince of lethally erotic tastes, and Jericho Barrons, a man of primal desires and untold secrets, Mac is soon locked in a battle for her body, mind, and soul.

As All Hallows’ Eve approaches and the city descends into chaos, as a shocking truth about the Dark Book is uncovered, not even Mac can prevent a deadly race of immortals from shattering the walls between worlds—with devastating consequences.…

~*~*~*~*~*~

I always have this funny feeling in my stomach when I read this book.

I even had it when I read it the first time. It was my 4th now.
Still - same hollow, sinking feeling.
Those who read this book will understand why.

From the start I hated Mac. Maybe hate is to strong a word for it, but I disliked her greatly.
She was spoiled and lazy.. But now I see her in a totally different light.

When you read paranormal, fantasy or any similar kind of book, you want a heroine to be strong. You want her to kick ass and take no shit from other. You want her independent. You don't want her to be weak.
However, I find myself liking Mac more and more every time I read this series. Actually if you think about it, this way, Mac's way is better.
She was just a small town southern belle. Spoiled to no end, loved by her family and her life was great. Until suddenly it wasn't anymore.

What would you expect from her? To become strong overnight because she has to? To just know martial arts without training, because there are bad guys and she has to be a kick-ass? Sounds great, but very unreal-world like.
This time re-reading KMM Fever series I was looking for those subtle changes in her, and I found it.
She went from 'meh' to 'oh wow' in few months. Few very hard months for her. Oh, and how have she changed!

Well the how's and why's I'll leave for you to figure out yourself. :)

And this 3rd book. Ha, she became a player herself. She used to be a victim.

Nope! Not anymore!

Yeah, yeah.. I know what you think.. "but what about the ending of this book?"

What about it?

It was a great ending, a beautiful cliffhanger. I'd be suicidal if not for knowing I have the next book of this series safely in my Kindle :)

Anyway.. The Mac says it, and the author repeats it. That this is a story about light. And I actually starting to see it.

Rereading a book is great, every time it's different. A lot depends on your mood while reading, so you're able to see it from different perspective every time!

Yup, that's it for now

Peace,
Queen A.

Review: Onyx (Lux Novel) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Blurb:
Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…
Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.
Something worse than the Arum has come to town….
The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.
But then everything changes…
I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?
No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies….

\*/ --- MAJOR SPOILERS --- \*/

****** Beware! ******

What the hell??????

It's like she knocked her head too hard too many times, in a row!!!!!

I was never, NEVER so mad at the heroine.

All that babbling about having feelings for Daemon are there just because of the bond, being spineless, clueless, soo stupid and soo naive all the time!
Finishing this book was a real challenge!
I wanted to scream and scream my frustration out while reading this..
I'm actually surprised there's such a good rating..
It's well written, and there's all kinds of people here, with different tastes and blah blah.. but my GOD!!!!!!!

Because of her everything went to shit practically from the start.
Why couldn't they just get together and then face the enemy?
Why did they have to battle with each other AND with the enemy and then get together at the MOST INAPPROPRIATE moment in the book?? When because of her Adam got killed.
But suddenly everyone understands and they're not mad at her. Of course, how can you be mad at a COMPLETE IDIOT!!!!!!???????

From the start I smelled something fishy about Bobby, or is it Boris? Oh right it's Flake, I mean Blake.... I loved you Daemon so much for being an asshole with him!
How can she not get suspicious about him? To be so stupid and trust a person you don't really know, and NOT trust a person you already got to know, and no matter what kind of asshat he could be, he saved your life numerous times and obviously cares for you!!!!
But nooo... not you.... you just close your eyes Katy ..
If not for you, this book could have been so awesome!!!! This whole series could have been one of my favorites!
But I just CAN'T forgive your idiocy. You were selfish, and because of you, because you haven't asked for help or advise when you could have, people and not just people got killed or imprisoned...

I wish, I wish I could slap you out of it. But I heard that book 3 is even worse.

Now people who read my reviews probably noticed that I try, really try to say something good about the book, even if I haven't loved it.
I wish I could say more nice things about this one too, the problem is, everything paled in a bright light of Katy

Peace, A.

Obsession by Jennifer L. Armentrout

blurb:

This is a stand alone novel that is an adult spin-off of the Lux Series You do not need to read a Lux book to read Obsession and vice versa.

He’s arrogant, domineering, and... To. Die. For.

Hunter is a ruthless killer. And the Department of Defense has him firmly in their grasp, which usually doesn’t chafe too badly because he gets to kill bad guys. Most of the time he enjoys his job. That is, until he’s saddled with something he’s never had to do before: protect a human from his mortal enemy.

Serena Cross didn’t believe her best friend when she claimed to have seen the son of a powerful senator turn into something... unnatural. Who would? But then she witnesses her friend’s murder at the hands of what can only be an alien, thrusting her into a world that will kill to protect their secret.

Hunter stirs Serena’s temper and her lust despite their differences. Soon he’s doing the unthinkable—breaking the rules he’s lived by, going against the government to keep Serena safe. But are the aliens and the government the biggest threats to Serena’s life… or is it Hunter?

Easy going, Light but sensually Dark read that I recommend to everybody!

I give 4 solid stars to this book.

And not just because in my opinion it was better in a way, then Lux series.

Although it's not fair to compare these books, mainly because it's incomparable.
Yes the tone and the style is there. Author writes it with light humor and I love that.
So although it wasn't world shattering and completely mind blowing and powerful like some books on my favorites list, this is definitely A MUST READ material.
After all the frustration I went through during my introduction into this word full of aliens, thanks to Lux series.Not.
I found this to be refreshing and very pleasing.
Of course there are flaws ... That insta-love is getting old and I wish authors would just stop with it.
But the chemistry between those two... HOLY HOTNESS!!!!! WOW! It was worth every bitchy feeling and comment I had and thought of when reading "Onyx"...

Peace, A.
